Based in West Sussex since 1933, our award-winning products are baked daily, from scratch using only the finest ingredients.
We work hard to maintain our tradition of quality and continue to produce some of the best meat pies in the country. Ours are no-nonsense, good old-fashioned favourites, done the right way for the whole family to enjoy.
Eva and Reginald Turner make and sell their first pie at the famous and well renowned Commercial Hotel in the seaside tourist destination Bognor Regis, where people would visit from all over the U.K.
30 Years On
After 30 years, Mrs Turner’s Steak and Kidney Pie became famous throughout the town, and their three children, Terence, Elizabeth, and Pip, began to learn the catering and hospitality trade.
Eva’s youngest son Pip and his wife Margaret take the great pies they know and begin to make them again from home to sell to local butchers and delicatessens. Soon demand is high for their top-quality pies.
The First Pie Shop
Turner’s first pie shop opens at 89 Hawthorn Rd, Bognor Regis, with the motto “Only the finest ingredients”. Here, our guarded recipes have been developed and refined for over 25 years.
Third Generation Pie Boys
Pip’s youngest son Philip takes the reins of the family business and is soon joined by his two elder brothers, Joseph and Peter, who had been brought up on and were also passionate about the pies of their parent’s business.
Being named in the guild of fine foods’ top 50 foods in the United Kingdom is closely followed by Harrods of Knightsbridge, London, choosing to exclusively stock Turner’s Pies in their world-famous food halls.
Turner’s Pies excitedly open up their second Pie Shop at 133 The Street, Rustington, receiving a warm welcome into the great community, which it seems the independent retailer continues to survive.
And there’s a third. Turner’s open up their third shop in the picturesque city of Chichester, spreading their sought after products along the West Sussex South coast.
Proud to have 4!
A 4th shop is opened in Broadwater, Worthing. Turner’s continue to share their well loved handmade pies, sweet treats and more across West Sussex.
Pies by Post is born
Pies by Post is launched. Turner’s Pies started their postal service ‘Pies by Post’. Making it as easy as pie to order from wherever you are and receive delicious meals through the pie delivery service.
BBC Documentary ‘Life of Pies’
Turner’s Pies are featured in the BBC1 Documentary’ Life of Pies’ celebrating the perfect pastry parcel and lifting the lid at the British Pie Awards. Turner’s Pies went on to win “Supreme Champion” a second time in 2020.
Supreme Champion Again!
The Rump Steak & Stilton Pie that Turner’s are well known for triumphs as the best British pie of 2020, another proud accomplishment of Turner’s Pies!
Different county, same delicious pies
Following the successful opening of 4 shops in West Sussex, Turner’s opened their 5th store in the beautiful Town of Petersfield due to its tremendous community spirit. Spreading their sought-after products into Hampshire.
The Apprentice 2024
Our Managing Director, Phil Turner, has been selected as a candidate for this year’s edition of The Apprentice! As a family grown business, we couldn’t be prouder of his incredible achievement. We can’t wait to follow along with you in this exciting competition.

Supreme Pie Champion 2018/2020
The British Pie Awards have become an institution for pastry-connoisseurs country-wide. The annual event sees hundreds of pie-makers gather for a celebration and competition of this British culinary favourite. Held each year in Melton Mowbray, the British Pie Awards have a selection of the most knowledgeable figures in the industry on-hand, presiding over the proceedings.
Our classic Steak & Ale Pie won the Supreme Champion crown in 2018, overcoming competition from 963 other pies and we were back to receive the crown again in 2020 with our Rump Steak & Stilton pie, officially making it Britain’s best pie!
The Great Taste Awards
The Guild of Fine Foods’ Great Taste Awards are considered the most trusted and recognised of food and drink awards. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food worldand the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer. Since first entering these awards in 2013 we have won a combination of over 15 stars over a selection of our products including our luxury Christmas pudding!
Naturally we were honoured when both our Steak & Ale and Steak & Stilton pies were awarded 3 stars. From nearly 10,000 entrants only 125 were awarded 3 stars at the Great Taste Awards.
