Eva and Reginald Turner craft and sell their first ever pie at the highly popular and well renowned commercial hotel in the seaside tourist destination of Bognor Regis where people would travel to, to visit from all over the UK.
After 30 successful years, Mrs Turner’s steak and kidney pie had become famous throughout the town. During this time, their 3 children Terence, Elizabeth and Pip had begun to learn the catering and hospitality trade.
Eva’s youngest son Pip and his wife took the great pies they knew and began to make them from home in order to sell to local butchers and delicatessens. Soon enough, the demand became very high due to the high-quality standards of their pies.
Turner’s first pie shop opened at 89 Hawthorn Road, Bognor Regis with the motto “Only the finest ingredients”. Here our produce has been developed and refined for almost 30 years.
Pips youngest son takes over the reins of the family business and is joined by his two elder brothers Joseph and Peter. All of whom had been brought up on the passion towards the pies shared by their parents.
Production is transferred over to its central dedicated pie making kitchen in Littlehampton. The subsequent result sees Turners Pies receive numerous awards for their range of pies including “England’s Best Steak Pie”, “British Pie Awards Champion” and “Great Taste Three Stars”.
Being named in the guild of fine foods top 50 foods in the United Kingdom is closely followed by Harrods of Knightsbridge, London choosing to stock Turner’s Pies in their world famous food halls.
Turner’s open their second Pies Shop at 133 The Street, Rustington because of it’s great community within which it seems the independent retailer continues to survive.
In Melton Mowbray, Turner’s were crowned champion in four separate award categories. Amongst hundreds of top quality entries, another four of their pies finished in the top 3 of their respective categories.
Turner’s open our 3rd store in the picturesque city of Chichester, spreading their sought after products along the West Sussex south coast. Our story is by no means over, keep your eyes peeled for exciting developments.
